A Calgary police officer has been charged with sexual assault after an Alberta watchdog investigated an allegation made in the fall of 2021.
The investigation of const. Gurlav Singh was initiated by the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) on October 9, 2022.
“The investigation revealed that on October 9, the officer was at a licensed establishment in Calgary, and while there, he groped a staff member in a sexual manner without her consent,” ASIRT said in its report.
Singh was off duty when the incident took place.
The investigation, including all the evidence gathered by ASIRT, has been passed on to Crown prosecutors.
Singh was released from custody and will appear in Calgary provincial court on January 5, 2023.
