Alberta Rural Municipalities say the whole of unpaid taxes from the oil spill continues to rise regardless of the business’s increase.
In a launch, the group of power firms says it owes cities and cities during which they function a complete of $268 million.
That is greater than six p.c increased than final 12 months.
The speed of non-payment can also be growing.
Paul McLauchlin, president of the group, says $53 million was left unpaid final 12 months and $38 million the 12 months earlier than.
McLauchlin says the issue comes at a time of report earnings within the business and he notes that just about half of the unpaid taxes are due from working firms.
He says a lot of the remainder comes from firms so marginal the Alberta Power Regulator is afraid to crack down on them and drive them to close down with out cleansing up their wells.
