Edmonton police say they’re helping the Alberta RCMP with an investigation of incidents surrounding a lady being killed by a U-Haul truck on the outskirts of southeast Edmonton Saturday evening.
The EPS says a number of models had been deployed to help Mounties, after a U-Haul fled a visitors cease in Beaumont. The truck drove north on 50 Road into Edmonton.
Whereas on 50 Road, police deployed a spike belt, which disabled a number of civilian automobiles in addition to the suspect’s truck.
A forty five-year-old girl from Fort Saskatchewan was driving one of many automobiles that hit the spike belt, and police say she had stepped out of her car to see what occurred when she was hit by the truck.
The U-Haul ultimately got here to a cease exterior a fuel station close to 22 Avenue and 50 Road. After crashing the U-Haul, the driving force reportedly stolen a Honda Civic, which was parked exterior the fuel station, with a toddler inside.

Police say the kid was positioned unhurt a number of minutes later.
On Monday morning, the EPS stated it had recovered the stolen Honda Civic exterior Edmonton.
EPS and RCMP officers are persevering with to search for the driving force. They’ve been described as being round 5’11” tall, and had been sporting a black hoodie with white textual content on the entrance, brown footwear, and black shorts on the time of the incident.
“We’re extremely saddened to listen to in regards to the tragic loss of life of the harmless girl who was killed on 50 Road,” stated Det. Nigel Phillips with the EPS Investigative Response Crew. “Our hearts are together with her household and pals who will now have to hold on with this unfathomable loss.
“We’re doing every little thing we will to trace down the suspect and we belief the general public will assist us determine and find him as quickly as attainable.”
“On behalf of the RCMP, I want to ship our heartfelt condolences to the relations of the sufferer,” added Supt. Leanne MacMillian, Assistant Central Alberta District Officer. “It is a devastating incident that may depart a mark on household and pals for years to return. Please perceive that you can be in our ideas as we progress by way of this investigation.”
The RCMP provides Alberta’s police watchdog has been notified of the incident, and ASIRT will start its personal unbiased investigation.
