An Alberta man convicted of making an attempt to blackmail a businessman for $1 million and killing a random stranger is interesting his conviction.
Robert Hoefman was convicted in 2021 by a jury in Medication Hat, Alta., of first-degree homicide and racketeering.
The courtroom heard that in 2017, after sending quite a few letters to the enterprise proprietor demanding the money, Hoefman stabbed James Satre to loss of life as a warning.

Hoefman was caught on digital camera close to a bait bag filled with shredded paper, his DNA was discovered on a few of the letters and his prescription glasses have been found below the sufferer.
