After a near miss on 12th Avenue NW Saturday night, an altercation between two drivers, unknown to each other, ensued. Investigators say the drivers exited their vehicles to exchange words.

The police later ruled that the death was not criminal in nature.

“This is a tragic event that resulted in devastating consequences over a simple dispute over driving,” said Staff Sgt. Sean Gregson of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit. “At a time when we are entering a season of celebration, we now have two families who will be forever affected by this incident. It is a stark reminder that a confrontation, especially with weapons, never leads to a positive outcome.”

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the non-emergency line at 403-266-1234. Tipsters can also contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
