The value of the transaction was not disclosed.
Mayor Jyoti Gondek joined Robert Ghazal, TD’s senior vice president of branch banking for the prairie region, for the announcement at City Hall on Friday.
“This partnership to create the TD Free Fare Zone is a unique step for our city and is actually the first time a transit agency in Canada has worked with a sponsor to rename a portion of its network ,” Gondek said.
She said the deal would give TD a prominent footprint in the core, while Calgary Transit would provide additional non-fare revenue to offset operating costs.
