A passenger in a speeding vehicle was pulled over by police after the driver’s previous record allowed a search.
At approximately 4:20 p.m. on December 8, a Strathmore RCMP officer observed a vehicle traveling at approximately 148 km/h on Highway 22X near 255 Range Road.
The officer stopped the vehicle, which had four people inside. The driver had prior, unrelated parole conditions, which allowed a search of the vehicle. A passenger also had conditions of release that included a 24-hour curfew and weapons ban.

A search of the vehicle revealed items such as a fake driver’s license with the passenger’s photo, other identification that did not belong to him, and a can of bear spray, police said.
“Due to violations of release order and possession of unauthorized and forged identity documents, the passenger was arrested. During subsequent interactions with the passenger, photographs of identification that did not belong to him were observed on his cell phone,” RCMP said in a release.
Police arrested the passenger for a bail hearing and the other occupants of the vehicle were released at the scene.

Sean Brooks, 36, of Calgary was charged with possession of a forged document, failure to comply with a condition of a release order, failure to comply with a condition of a probation order, possession of a weapon in violation of a restraining order, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unlawful possession of a government document and possession of a controlled substance.
Brooks was remanded in custody to appear in court at a future date.
Police said at the time of the arrest, Brooks was at large on a release warrant related to 33 outstanding charges from seven cases and two probation warrants. RCMP said the ongoing investigation could result in future charges.
