At 1:55 p.m., an alert will go out on television, radio, wireless devices, social media, the Alberta Emergency Alert mobile app and via compatible mobile phones.

“Testing is critical as it helps us troubleshoot any system issues and make sure alerts are working when we need them to,” said a statement from Alberta Public Safety Minister Mike Ellis. “It helps save lives and protect Albertans during a real emergency.”
The alert will only work if the receiving phone is compatible, on the LTE 4G network, switched on and connected to Wi-Fi. If the handset is set to silent, it will display the alert but will not play the emergency tone.
