An Australian coal firm is withdrawing its plan for a mine within the Crowsnest Cross area of the jap slopes of Alberta’s Rocky Mountains.
In a letter, Montem Assets is asking the Alberta vitality regulator to finish the environmental affect evaluation for its Tentberg proposal.
The letter says the corporate is not going to resume mining for metallurgical coal on the web site, which final operated in 1983.

CEO Peter Doyle says the corporate will as an alternative focus efforts on constructing a renewable hydro mission on the web site.
In February, Montem introduced a take care of TransAlta by which the utility would purchase a 50 p.c stake within the plan to mix wind and hydro to generate renewable electrical energy.
Doyle says a remaining determination on whether or not to proceed with the renewable vitality plan will are available in 2025.
