The Calgary Flames have signed school free agent Sam Morton to a one-year contract.
The deal for the 2024-25 season is US$950,000, the Flames introduced Monday.
The 24-year-old from Lafayette, Colo., will be a part of Calgary’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Calgary Wranglers, on an beginner tryout contract for the rest of this season.

Morton was named the Central Collegiate Hockey Affiliation (CCHA) participant of the 12 months with a conference-leading 24 targets and 10 assists in 37 video games for Minnesota State.
His 9 power-play targets tied for eighth in NCAA Division 1 males’s hockey.
The six-foot, 185-pound centre compiled a profession 47 targets and 42 assists in 144 video games for Minnesota State.
