A Calgary non-profit group is providing a variety of employment-related coaching applications for future tradespeople.
In Momentum’s applications that result in a profession in trades, 90 per cent of these being educated are current immigrants.
“It’s lots of people who’re experiencing employment boundaries, so a lot of new Canadians – perhaps it’s language boundaries, tradition boundaries,” Momentum’s Jeff Loomis mentioned. “Our program helps break down these boundaries, so that they get the talents to achieve success within the trades.”
Some purchasers go on to proceed their coaching with native building firms. Amid persevering with shortages of tradespeople, the businesses are keen to rent as many certified newcomers as attainable.

Deokhyeon Kim, who arrived in Calgary from South Korea in 2021, is now an apprentice carpenter with Chandos, after coaching with Momentum.
