Alberta’s Christa Deguchi defeated Brazil’s Jessica Lima on Friday to seize gold within the under-57 kilogram class on the Antalya Grand Slam judo competitors for Canada.
The Lethbridge resident, Deguchi, was the primary to go on the offensive in extra time and secured the win.
She bested Austria’s Laura Kallinger, Guinea’s Mariana Esteves, South Korea’s Juhee Kim and Faiza Mokdar of France earlier Friday to clinch a spot within the closing.
It was Deguchi’s second Grand Slam title of the yr and tenth crown of her profession.
The Albertan’s first title of 2024 was when she received gold at a judo Grand Slam within the under-57 kilogram in February, defeating Nora Gjakova of Kosovo, who needed to withdraw resulting from an harm.
