When Calgary hosted the 1975 Gray Cup game, it was an epic moment for the Canadian Football League. For the first time the game was played on the Prairies. November weather was what it can be, the day was bitterly cold (-10 to -15 C) and the weather was a big factor in the game. Neither of the two teams playing — the Edmonton Eskimos or the Montreal Alouettes — scored a touchdown the entire game. The Eskimos eventually edged the Alouettes by a score of 9-8 – one of the lowest scoring games in Gray Cup history.

However, fans’ spirits remained high. A huge party atmosphere surrounded the game, which saw 32,322 fans flock to McMahon Stadium. It even attracted a partially naked female striker who danced across the pitch for between five and 10 minutes during pre-match activities, including the national anthem. She was eventually arrested and charged with creating a disturbance. City police said while they had plenty of contingency plans to deal with Gray Cup festivities, they weren’t counting on a streaker. “We didn’t have any extra overcoats,” said one police spokesman.
