Police have arrested a 13-year-old boy after a student was stabbed at a high school in southeast Calgary on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers responded to Jack James High School, on the 5100 block of 8th Avenue SE, for reports of a stabbing at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

There they found one student with minor injuries who was treated by EMS at the scene. Paramedics at the scene said the victim was in stable condition.
Police identified a suspect after reviewing school CCTV footage, and found that they had fled the school after the stabbing. Soon after, the police located and arrested a suspect.
The high school was briefly placed on lockdown while police searched for the suspect. Police said there are no further risks to Jack James High School students.
Charges against the boy are pending, and police say their investigation into the stabbing is ongoing.
