Organizers are getting ready for the kickoff of the 15th annual Calgary Worldwide Salsa Congress and individuals are more and more shifting away from conventional methods of pairing as much as dance.
“Historically, the chief sometimes was a person, however now you’ll have males main males, girls main girls,” dancer Rebekah Korbel stated. “It’s nice that everyone may be part of it. It’s very inclusive, which I actually love, having that sort of inclusivity.”
The brand new strategy applies to all of the dance types featured throughout competitions, performances and workshops on the occasion.
These types embrace Salsa, Bachata, Cha Cha, Latin Hustle and Tango.
“Most dance communities are accepting of all genders, so it’s nearly the norm nowadays,” dancer Tien Hoang stated. “It simply makes the world a greater place.”

Opponents and performers from throughout Canada, the U.S. and Mexico shall be attending the congress.

“The very, very cool factor is we rotate companions and everyone dances with everyone,” occasion organizer Kelly Lannan stated. “I feel that’s one thing actually distinctive and particular to our group.”
The Calgary Worldwide Salsa Congress runs from April 4-7 on the Hyatt Regency Lodge in downtown Calgary.
